The Pet Care Center was opened in the Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital in 2007 for cats, dogs and other animals. The Center includes VIP boarding kennels for dogs and cats as well as pet preparing and dog training services.

Salem is a good example of a loyal customer to the Pet Care Center, he uses to bring his dog for health checking. After few years Salem had to leave his dog because he can’t take care of him anymore and the ADFH told him that they have an animal shelter. Salem signs a paper to give the hospital his dog and a few months later he return to the hospital with a friend that want to adopt a dog. The coincidence was that Salem dog was there and he told his friend about him and the friend decided to take Salem’s dog.

Nouf another customer of the Pet Care Center said: “ I have never know a better place to give away my animal than this place, they offer a good place with a health care, but the other animals shop they just care about money.”

ADFH is a good example of how the UAE cares about the stray animals. It’s also a good place to adopt animals without worrying about the diseases that they may carry.

Mr. Thamer Al Subaihi

Editor

The National

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirate

Dear Thamer,

In February 7, 2010 your newspaper, “The National” has written an article about putting the street cats in illegal death. Despise of the other positive articles that have been written after this article, we really want to correct the information that others hear about us.

As everyone knows the Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital has a pet clinic alongside with the animals shelter. In addition, of taking the authority to conduct the neutering for the TNR (Trap-Neuter-Run) program of the Abu Dhabi Emirate. If any animal were brought to the clinic from the street or an owner who offering him for adoption the animals face three processes. The first step is the checking process where the animal goes through several tests to see if it has any infectious diseases and will get vaccinated, receive medication against fleas or worms, and microchipped. Second, the animal will have anti-reproductive surgery to reduce the increasing number of the animals on the streets. Finally, the animal will be put in the shelter if it finished the first two stages to be ready for adoption.

The aim behind our animal shelter is to achieve animal welfare up to highest international standards for feral cats, stray dogs as well as abandoned and surrendered cats and dogs in Abu Dhabi Emirate, and to reach a situation where the feral cat population is fully under control.

Please help us to send the message for the citizens and help the animals to have suitable homes for them and to give them a chance to live in a loving family.

Sincerely,

Salma AlEbri

Film review

On 17th of May, 2015 the professor told us to go and attend the ZUMEFF and write a film review. There were a lot of films with several languages like, Emeriti, English, Egyptian, Lebanese, and Morocco.

Every film held a story or purpose, but the most attractive short film for me was the one that talk about giving the others hope. The move began with a father that was setting with his son, and he decided to tell him a story because the boy seems bored. The story was about a boy who had an accident that made him unable to walk. The boy name was Abdulla and he was a playful boy who loves to play and go outside the house.89741750 However, the accident made him trapped in a wheelchair and he started to feel despair. His mother decided to build the hope in his heart to see the smile in her son face again, so she gives him something to believe. She planted a sunflower and draw a smile and sad faces in her leaves. She made her son believe that the last leave that will stay will be the one who decide if he going to walk again or not. His bigger brother was mad at his mother because he felt sorry for his little brother and how does he believe in the sunflower magic. The big brother believed that they should not lie, because it may damage his little brother in all the leaves fall from the sunflower.

A sound come to cut the father story and it was his wife calling for him and his son to eat lunch. The boy runs to the kitchen while the father moved his body to a wheelchair. The father goes near a sunflower that has one leave with a smile face on it and was affixed to the sunflower. The film’s end to let the audience think about how hope can make people smile even if it was a lie.

ADEC presentation by Ameera Alahbabi and Sulaiman Al Ameri

On Wednesday, 6th of May, 2015, Ameera Alahbabi and Sulaiman Al Ameri came to our class to talk about their future campaign that they want to do to raise the number of Emirati teachers from 38% to 54% in five years. Main logo Final 22 03 2010>>

At the beginning I though Ameera and Sulaiman will give us a formative presentation about their campaign, however the presentation was two-way talk. All the students were encouraged to talk about the possible reasons behind the decreasing number of Emirati teachers. After a long list of the problems and complaints Ameera and Sulaiman told us to think about ideas that they can use to attract the Emirati students to be a teacher. It was very interesting to have the chance to be part of solving a problem in our country. What was also very incentive is that those two employees from ADEC were very interesting to take our ideas because they believe that as a media students we will be aware enough about running successful campaigns.

For me the possible campaigns that may affect the students and their mothers that have a big part in influencing them is having awareness lectures. The lectures should hold in the schools and local TV channels. For example, I suggest them to talk to Eatedal Al Shamsi, she was a teacher, then school principal, and when she retired she became an advocate. A lot of women and students know her and I thought she would be a good influence on them. I also recommend to choose the most beloved or respectful teacher in every school to do small lectures for the students about the teaching career to build the desire in their minds.

Finally, I hope to see more Emirati teachers in the school because the citizens in every country should participate in building its future. As what Sheikh Zayed (God bless his soul) said: “The education of our people is a great wealth. We are proud of our educated nation because through knowledge and science, we will open the horizons of a glorious future.”
